Getting ready for GoodHood Web3 initiatives

Official announcements are underway as we begin rolling out our first Web3 enabled project!
Off the back of Beat Retreat, we’ve developed a proof of ownership framework ensuring retreat participants receive their share of all revenue generated by the albums live recorded at the retreats.
As we finalise the details, all participants of 2024’s “Magic Mountain” Beat Retreat are encouraged to get their Web3 wallets ready to recieve:
- GoodHood governance tokens
- Retreat attendees are automatically assigned ‘Good Neighbour’ status and are able to vote on how the Good Neighbourhood Pty Ltd not-for-profit organisation makes key decisions.
- Magic Mountain 1/8 limited edition proof of ownership token
- Holders of these tokens are entitled to 1/8 share of all revenue of the Magic Mountain album
More to come! For now, follow the instructions below to get setup with a Web3 wallet. Even if you didn’t attend 2024’s Beat Retreat, having a wallet setup will make it easier for you to interact with future GoodHood initiatives!
Here’s a step-by-step guide to download MetaMask and get your wallet address on the Polygon network:
STEP 1: Download and Install MetaMask
- Go to the official MetaMask website:
https://metamask.io - Click “Download”:
Choose the appropriate option for your browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox) or mobile device (iOS or Android). - Install the Extension or App:
- If you’re using a browser, install the extension.
- If you’re on mobile, download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
STEP 2: Set Up Your Wallet
- Click “Get Started”
Choose “Create a Wallet” (or “Import Wallet” if you already have one). - Create a Password
This is used to unlock MetaMask on your device. - Backup Your Secret Recovery Phrase
Write it down and store it offline in a secure place. This is critical for wallet recovery. - Confirm the Recovery Phrase
To verify you’ve saved it correctly.
STEP 3: Add the Polygon Network (if not visible)
- Open MetaMask and click the network dropdown at the top (it says “Ethereum Mainnet” by default).
- Click “Add network” or “Add network manually” depending on the interface.
- Enter the following Polygon network details:
Network Name: Polygon Mainnet New RPC URL: https://rpc-mainnet.polygon.rpcpool.com Chain ID: 137 Currency Symbol: MATIC Block Explorer URL: https://polygonscan.com
- Click “Save”. You are now connected to the Polygon network.
STEP 4: Get Your Wallet Address
- In MetaMask, ensure Polygon Mainnet is selected.
- You’ll see your wallet address at the top (e.g.,
0x1234...abcd
). - Click the address to copy it to your clipboard.
✅ You’re Done
You can now receive Polygon-based tokens (like Good Hood) by giving others your wallet address. Make sure you’re always using the correct network (Polygon) when sending/receiving assets.
